Dustin Angelo


Mr. Angelo has extensive operating, capital markets and start-up experience in the mining industry, including gold, coal and aggregates, and is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the State of Kentucky. Prior to co-founding Novamera Inc., he was President, CEO and Director of Anaconda Mining Inc., a Toronto Stock Exchange (“TSX”) listed gold mining company, from 2010 to 2019. Under his leadership, Anaconda grew its footprint in Newfoundland, expanded its operations to Nova Scotia and built a sustainable, profitable company that is a responsible member of the community. Preceding Anaconda, Mr. Angelo served as CFO of Elgin Mining Inc. (formerly known as Phoenix Coal Inc., a TSX-listed resource company) where he was integral in the growth of the organization from a private enterprise to a publicly-listed company from August 2006 to November 2010. Mr. Angelo also has experience in finance as Vice-President of MHI Energy Partners (an energy-focussed private equity fund) from 2005 to 2006 and as a Principal at New York City’s Waller Capital Corporation (a boutique investment bank focussed on mergers and acquisitions) from 1997 to 2005. He was also a founding member and director of North American Limestone Corporation (a private developer and operator of limestone quarries in the United States). Mr. Angelo earned a BSBA in Accounting and International Business from Georgetown University and an MBA from the Columbia Business School.


Allan Cramm


Mr. Cramm is a Founder and Innovation Strategist of Novamera. Prior to Novamera, he was Vice President, Innovation and Development of Anaconda Mining and also part of the development team for new mines and operations. Prior to his promotion, Allan was the General Manager of Anaconda’s Point Rousse Project in Baie Verte, Newfoundland and Labrador. He was responsible for the overall operation of the project including permitting, construction, production and special projects. Mr. Cramm has been involved in various management and supervisory roles associated with mining for the past 25 years (both open pit and underground) including Project Coordinator/General Manager of two underground mines in Newfoundland, Nugget Pond and Hammerdown, that used a central-processing facility. He has a high regard for environmental protection with some associated projects having been recognized provincially and nationally for their attention to environmental stewardship. He has received several awards for his contributions over the years including the 2012 Queens Diamond Jubilee Award and The Sam Blagdon Award for contribution to the community through mining activity. In June 2017, he was awarded an honorary membership with PEGNL and in 2018, was inducted into the International Mining Hall of Fame.

Andrew Caruana


Mr. Caruana is one of leading experts in engineering applications for underground projects, including those of hazardous environment in nature. With vast experience designing and maintaining Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM), Andrew has been involved in many of the major underground projects globally including subway, sewer and utility projects. With 17 years of industry experience, he has supported the underground industry by delivering custom engineered solutions to resolve complex challenges and problems. In addition to this support, Andrew has managed, Engineer Procure and Commission (EPC) projects greater than $30M in scale individually. With a unique experience comprising manufacturing, site execution and service, Andrew can deliver functional solutions that embody all these facets of experience. He is driven by helping his customers define their needs and tackling undefined and challenging projects. Economic and environmental sustainability are highly regarded by him and are reflected in the solutions delivered. One of his passions is delivering functional solutions to especially challenging problems such as those found in Hazardous Classified Locations such as Class 1 Zone 1 and Zone 2 locations. Andrew is a registered P. Eng and is active with the Tunnelling Association of Canada where he serves on the board of directors.

Shannon McCrae


Ms. McCrae has over 20 years of experience in the mining and exploration industry including progressive leadership roles throughout the mining and exploration pipeline. She was most recently Managing Director of her own consultancy company. Prior roles included Director of Global Exploration for Barrick Gold until 2019 and leadership roles in the De Beers Group of companies.  She has both corporate and field experience globally and welcomes new technology to make step changes in the industry. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science (Geology) from Western University and is registered as a P.Geo in Ontario.

Jeronimo De Moura


Mr. Moura has degrees in mathematics and mechanical engineering, a master's degree in Energy, a specialization in oil and gas engineering and a PhD degree in progress in drilling engineering with emphasis in innovative drilling technology optimization being part of the Advanced Drilling Group of the Memorial University of Newfoundland. Jeronimo worked in the oil and gas onshore Brazilian industry for over 17 years, having strong experience in the management of multi-disciplinary engineering teams. Jeronimo participated in the conception and implementation of major projects of the oil onshore production in Brazil (projects with over 100 million dollars of CAPEX), including technological innovation projects of oil and gas production. He worked in several projects the technological development, some of which were carried out through partnerships industry and university.  His experience extends to the areas of project management, cost control, KPIs, industrial maintenance, and production management.


Jean-Michel Moreau


Mr. Moreau is the Sr. Application Specialist and Data Science expert at Novamera with over 12 years of experience in high tech start-ups and innovation.


He has invented new chemicals, software algorithms, physical processes, robots, and automation systems. As a leader, Mr. Moreau has recruited and built-up top teams, managed global programs with CAPEX budges over CA$ 100M. He has successfully launched technologies and products to customers all over the globe.


Jean-Michel holds an M.Sc. in Semiconductor Physics and a B.S. in Chemistry. Previously, Mr. Moreau was a Global Director of Data Science at Anjuna and a Sr. R&D Manager at Cimpress (CMPR). Jean-Michel worked as both an Integration Engineer and Reliability Engineer at Nanosolar—one of the highest funded (US$ 0.5B) start-ups of its time.


Brian Villamizar


Mr. Villamizar is a geophysicist with over 9 years of experience in reservoir characterization and seismic imaging in both industry and academia. He received his degrees in Geophysics from Simon Bolivar University in Venezuela (B.Eng.) and China University of Petroleum in Beijing (M.Sc.). Brian is currently finishing a Ph.D. degree in Geophysics at Western University in Canada within the Canadian $104 million Metal Earth R&D Project. He is working on full-waveform inversion and various signal processing techniques to improve the imaging of crystalline structures, allowing for a better understanding of mineralization pathways. Prior to obtaining his M.Sc. degree, Brian spent over 5 years as a Project Geophysicist at PDVSA, the Venezuelan national oil company. During this time, Brian strengthened his expertise in signal analysis, seismic interpretation, and reservoir modeling in the Monagas Thrust Belt and the Orinoco Belt, which hosts the largest oil deposits in the world. At these sites, he spent time supervising two 3C-3D seismic acquisition projects and well drilling operations. Before transitioning to Canada, Brian continued working in the industry by joining the Kerui Petroleum Group and the QITeam International service company in China.


Rita Al-Loos


As Novomera’s leading hardware engineer, Ms. Al-Loos oversees using state of the art technology to drive Novomera’s products forward and ahead of the competition. Rita earned her B.Eng. in Biomedical Engineering from Ryerson University, Ontario; she gained her rich hardware design experience while building devices used in brain signalling research. She designed hardware components that were used to examine developmentally delayed children’s brain at the hospital for SickKids.


Dr. Stephen Butt


Dr. Stephen Butt is a Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland ("MUN") in Process Engineering and leads the Sustainable Mining by Drilling research team. At MUN, he is Principal Investigator for the Drilling Technology Laboratory where he leads a multi-disciplinary team in drilling research and related technology development. For the past 23 years as a faculty member, he has participated in the development of natural resource industries in Canada through teaching and research focused on laboratory systems development, technology optimization and commercialization, and reducing environmental foot print. He has held research funding of $6.5M CAD, published over 200 articles and proceedings, trained 90 Highly Qualified Personnel and holds several patents and technology licenses. He has been Mining Program Chair at Dalhousie University and Associate Dean (Graduate) and Process Engineering Chair at Memorial University. He is a registered PEng with PEGNL and is active with the CEAB certifying Canadian Engineering programs and NLAN assisting technology entrepreneurs. In 2016, he was awarded the Society of Petroleum Engineers Canada Drilling Engineering Award for technological innovations in drilling.
