Roby is a partner at VCI, and has been connecting the spaces of design thinking innovation and business strategy for 25 years, serving clients as diverse as Apple, BMW or Nestlé. In mining, he has developed technology roadmaps, strategy and cultural transformations for mining houses worth over 400 billion dollars including BHP, Rio, Vale, South32, Kumba, AGA, Barrick, Gold Fields or AEM to name a few, as well as for CMIC in Canada, the Minerals Council of South Africa or the ICMM. He managed the technology strategy and roadmap of ATIC for seven years, which grew into the world’s largest technology innovation consortium in mining with over 150 partner companies.


As a member of IDEO's global exco, Roby was part of the small group that invented Design Thinking. He was head of Product Development and Design at Nanosolar, with half a billion dollars in funding the best funded startup of its time, and an early unicorn.

Roby is a member of the Digital Advisory Board at Sibanye Stillwater, the investment committee at Stanford Alumni Ventures/ Spike, the start-up jury of the EU's EIT Raw Materials, advises Chrysalix Venture Capital, serves on two boards, is an angel investor in start-ups in CA, US, UK, EU, CH, SA. He has taught at Stanford for several years, and at Carnegie Mellon, TU Munich and other universities.




Charlie joined Chrysalix in 2008. He is responsible for leading the opportunity recognition and investment selection process for mining innovation in the Chrysalix RoboValley Fund. Charlie has a passion for anticipating how emerging technology can solve problems that matter and devising marketing strategy to successfully establish new startups.

At Chrysalix, Charlie has led investments in and sat on the boards of GlassPoint, MineSense and Primus Power. He is a current board director for GaN Systems and past board director at Axine Water Technologies.

Charlie has a strong technology, sales and marketing background. Prior to joining Chrysalix, he helped found Soliant Energy, a solar energy startup based in California developing new PV modules with leading energy density, where he held the role of VP Business Development and Product Marketing. He was responsible for product-market fit and early customer development.

Charlie has a PhD in optoelectronics and materials science from the University of Southampton. He also has an MBA from Berkeley where he was a Haas Venture Capital Fellow and a Sainsbury Management Fellow, a highly competitive scholarship from the UK Royal Academy of Engineering.



Mr. Fitzgerald has been a director of Novamera since its inception.


Mr. Fitzgerald co-founded Toronto-based Stope Capital Advisors, Inc. ("SCA"),  a merchant bank focused on the resource and agriculture sectors. Mr. Fitzgerald is Non-Executive Chairman of Anaconda Mining Inc. (TSX.V: AN) and Non-Executive Chairman of Lehua Brands International, a private consumer products company. He is a director of Samepage Health, a start-up behavioral health business based in Seattle, WA.


Mr. Fitzgerald has 30+ years of investment banking experience in which he sourced and executed a wide variety of complex transactions across multiple industries.

Mr. Fitzgerald, a British and Canadian national, is a graduate of Bowdoin College (A.B., with Distinction), The London School of Economics (MSc. (Econ)) and The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania (MBA).
